- “Worship is love expressed”
2 Samuel 6:14-23 (NIV)
14 Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, 15 while he and all Israel
were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets.
16 As the ark of the Lord was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window.
And when she saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, she despised him in her heart.
17 They brought the ark of the Lord and set it in its place inside the tent that David had pitched for it, and
David sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before the Lord. 18 After he had finished sacrificing the
burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord Almighty. 19 Then he gave
a loaf of bread, a cake of dates and a cake of raisins to each person in the whole crowd of Israelites, both men
and women. And all the people went to their homes.
20 When David returned home to bless his household, Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and
said, “How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today, going around half-naked in full view of the slave girls
of his servants as any vulgar fellow would!”
21 David said to Michal, “It was before the Lord, who chose me rather than your father or anyone from his
house when he appointed me ruler over the Lord’s people Israel—I will celebrate before the Lord. 22 I will
become even more undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But by these slave girls you
spoke of, I will be held in honor.”
23 And Michal daughter of Saul had no children to the day of her death.

- Our ability to worship is determined by the posture of our hearts
- Who cares how you worship? GOD cares!
- The posture of our hearts will impact the posture of our bodies

This expression of David’s heart showed that he had a genuine emotional link to God. There are two
great errors in this area – the error of making emotions the center of our Christian life and the error of an
emotionally detached Christian life. In the Christian life, emotions must not be manipulated, and they must not be
repressed. - David Guzik
- Practical HOW TOs on worship from scripture:
- Singing

Psalm 96:1-2 (NLT)

1 Sing a new song to the Lord!
Let the whole earth sing to the Lord!
2 Sing to the Lord; praise his name.
Each day proclaim the good news that he saves.
Psalm 104:33 (NLT)
33 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live.
I will praise my God to my last breath!

- Playing Instruments
Psalm 98:5-6 (NLT)
5 Sing your praise to the Lord with the harp,
with the harp and melodious song,
6 with trumpets and the sound of the ram’s horn.
Make a joyful symphony before the Lord, the King!
Psalm 150:3-6(NLT)
3 Praise him with a blast of the ram’s horn;
praise him with the lyre and harp!
4 Praise him with the tambourine and dancing;
praise him with strings and flutes!
5 Praise him with a clash of cymbals;
praise him with loud clanging cymbals.
6 Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord! Praise the Lord!

- Raising Hands

Psalm 63:3-4 (NIV)
3 Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
4 I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.
Psalm 134:1-2 (NIV)
1 Praise the Lord, all you servants of the Lord
who minister by night in the house of the Lord.
2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary
and praise the Lord.

- Kneeling/Bowing
Psalm 95:6-7 (NIV)
6 Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;

7 for he is our God
and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care.
- Shouting, Clapping, and Dancing
Psalm 47:1-2 (NLT)
1 Come, everyone! Clap your hands!
Shout to God with joyful praise!
2 For the Lord Most High is awesome.
He is the great King of all the earth.
Psalm 149:3 (NIV)
3 Let them praise his name with dancing
and make music to him with timbrel and harp.

- Everything in Order and Submission

1 Corinthians 14
26…Everything must be done so that the church may be built up.
33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace—as in all the congregations of the Lord’s
people.
40 But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.

- Dmitri Story
“Don’t you ever give up in freedom what we would never give up in persecution — and that is our witness
to the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” - Dmitri (Insanity of God Book)
