Lessons from a Worship Parade

● Life without the presence of God can never be better –
only worse.

2 Samuel 6:16 As the ark of the LORD was entering the City of
David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And
when she saw King David leaping and dancing before the
LORD, she despised him in her heart.
Michal was the daughter of

The presence of God demands choice and reveals spirits.

● Get the key people in your life in the presence of God.
● Let the spirit of God help you by revealing their spirit.
● Sin doesn’t like the presence of God, because God’s
presence brings conviction.

17 They brought the ark of the LORD and set it in its place
inside the tent that David had pitched for it, and David

sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before the
LORD.

I Cor. 3:16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple
and that God’s Spirit lives in you?

Prepare for His presence.

II Sam. 6:18 After he had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and
fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of
the LORD Almighty.

Connecting with God comes first.
● You don’t have a connection to God because of your
ministry. You have a ministry because of your connection to
God.

19 Then he gave a loaf of bread, a cake of dates and a cake of
raisins to each person in the whole crowd of Israelites, both
men and women. And all the people went to their homes.

God’s presence produces a generous spirit.

You can’t keep His presence to yourself.

…Michal daughter of Saul came out to meet him and said,
“How the king of Israel has distinguished himself today,
disrobing in the sight of the slave girls of his servants as any
vulgar fellow would!”

We are all equal in the presence of God.

Romans 3:23 reminds us “all have sinned and come short of the
glory of God”.

21 David said to Michal, “It was before the LORD, who chose me…

Promotion comes from the Lord.
I Pet. 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of
God, that he may exalt you in due time…

It was before the LORD, who chose me, rather than your
father or anyone from his house when he appointed me ruler
over the LORD’S people Israel…

Even in the presence of God, you still have to fight the flesh.

- 4 -

● Your basic human nature wants to glorify itself, not God.

I will celebrate before the LORD. 22 I will become even more
undignified than this, and I will be humiliated in my own eyes. But
by these slave girls you spoke of, I will be held in honor.”

Avoid the approval trap.

23 And Michal daughter of Saul had no children to the day of
her death.

When we fail to humble ourselves and submit to God’s
presence, we remove His hand of blessing from our lives.
