Episode Notes

Here's a 5-day Bible reading plan and devotional guide for this episode

Day 1: The High Priestly Prayer
Reading: John 17:1-5

Devotional: As we begin this journey, we focus on Jesus' role as our High Priest. In these verses, Jesus prays to the Father, acknowledging the authority given to Him and defining eternal life as knowing the one true God and Jesus Christ. Reflect on what it means to truly know God.
How does your relationship with Him impact your daily life? Consider how Jesus, in His role as High Priest, bridges the gap between you and the Father. Take time today to approach God's throne with confidence, knowing that Jesus has made a way for you to come boldly before Him.

Day 2: Unity in Christ
Reading: John 17:20-23

Devotional: Today, we meditate on Jesus' prayer for unity among believers. This unity is not just a nice idea, but a reflection of the unity within the Trinity itself.
How does your life demonstrate unity with other believers? Are there areas where you've allowed division to creep in? Remember, our unity is a powerful witness to the world of God's love.
Today, make a conscious effort to reach out to a fellow believer, especially someone you may have had differences with.
Pray for God to heal any rifts in your relationships and to use your unity as a testament to His love.

Day 3: Sanctification through Truth
Reading: John 17:14-19

Devotional: Jesus prays for His followers to be sanctified by the truth of God's Word. To be sanctified means to be set apart for God's purposes. How are you allowing God's truth to transform you?
Are there areas of your life that you've kept hidden from His sanctifying work? Today, spend extra time in God's Word.
Ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate truth in your heart and to show you areas where you need to grow.
Remember, sanctification is a process - embrace the journey of becoming more like Christ each day.

Day 4: Protected but Not Removed
Reading: John 17:11-15

Devotional: In this passage, Jesus prays for our protection while acknowledging that we remain in the world. As believers, we're called to be "in the world but not of it."
How do you balance engaging with the world around you while maintaining your distinct identity in Christ? Reflect on areas where you might be too influenced by worldly values.
At the same time, consider how you can be a light in your community. Today, ask God for discernment in navigating the challenges of daily life while staying true to your calling as a follower of Christ.

Day 5: The Glory of Christ
Reading: John 17:24-26

Devotional: We conclude our study with Jesus' desire for us to be with Him and to see His glory. This glimpse into eternity reminds us of the hope we have in Christ.
How does the promise of eternal life with Jesus impact your perspective on current struggles? Meditate on the love that the Father has for Jesus and for you. Allow this love to fill you and overflow to others. Today, consciously live in the light of eternity.
Make decisions and interact with others knowing that your ultimate destiny is to be with Christ. Let this eternal perspective shape your actions and attitudes.
