Let’s Not Blame Him - A Poem for May 30 2024

May 30, 2024
Roger Ginnett, Todd Cormier

Passion From the Porch is for believers in Jesus Christ that see a lot more clearly the downward spiral happening in America as churches close their doors and people fall away from God and embrace popular culture. the Bible teaches that all believers have the ministry of reconciliation and we aim to inspire believers to be courageous not only around the community but also in the workplace in giving God glory. We recently decided to take some new content, a few stories and news from what we learned during Covid and get this podcast off the ground since our initial "test" episode. While we were discussing plans this week, Todd reminded me of a poem he wrote and we wanted to share it with you today, Thanks for joining us! Please subscribe for new episodes.

Let's Not Blame Him - Todd Cormier

If a fellow was hurling a discus
and somehow tore his meniscus
ten could not bend to smell a hibiscus
is it God who seeks to afflict us?

If a girl ran under a tree
with a bird, a hive, and a bee,
then was stung so that she could not see
is it God's fault she could not flee?

Or if a man had a ringing in his ear
that brought weeping, sorrow, and fear
And on one side he could not hear
Is it God that caused him these tears?

And when death comes calling once more
as it has in millenniums before
Since Adam, from one shore to shore
Will hatred be our rapport?

And why so oft' is heard
as though no one is reading His word
"There's no God!, He's aloof, life's absurd!"
When sin makes our thinking so blurred

Yes, our sin makes us to cry
It brings pain, it brings sorrow, we die
Since Eden, we've all bought the lie
We'll still curse Him and madly ask "why!?"

Now, in truth God can thwart any plan
of the Devil in nature or man
If He wills, no illness can stand
Cause he's sovereign and our life's in His hand.

So if He is in sovereign control
Why does death still take it's toll?
It's our sin, if you're taking a poll
But God's endgame is saving our soul!

Yes, eternal is what we should see.
His salvation is priority.
It's why Jesus was nailed to the tree.
Blood wrought belief, and we are set free.

So the next time you're mad in this place
Sin is our fault, and of this human race.
It's why Jesus had spit on his face.
Let's not blame Him, He only gives GRACE!
