Episode Notes

Series: Messy Church 1st Corinthians 7:17-24
Title: Making Social Change March 30, 2025

Luke 19:10, For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

Big Idea: The purpose of the Gospel is to change people not society…
However, changed people can’t help but change society.

1. Be satisfied in your assignment.

1st Corinthians 7:17, Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches.

Philippians 4:11-13, Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

2. Be accepting in your condition.

1st Corinthians 7:20, Each one should remain in the condition in which he was called.

2nd Corinthians 12:9-10, But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

3. Be faithful in your calling.

1st Corinthians 7:24, So, brothers, in whatever condition each was called, there let him remain with God.

Matthew 6:33, But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Next Step: Focus on inward change not outward.

Micah 6:8, He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
